LUXURY
As a member of this human race,
I have known only one art,
To survive.
Not to give way.
Never to lose hope.
Suffer indignities, and yet,
Crave for life.
Neither tortures of concentration camps
Nor hatred of Hitler,
Nor the bombing of Hiroshima,
Nothing could deter me.
I am back again,
With my passion to live more decently,
More intensely, and more extensively.
This world was not enough for me.
Mars! I am coming.
Times are often found to conspire
Against the best of men.
The world is crazy.
It hated Christ. Hemlocked Socrates.
If you didn’t stop
A TV channel is enough for you.
Man is always in debate with himself,
Society has always lived on folly,
And quarantined wisdom;
Perhaps, we believe
More in the poison than the nectar,
And we have survived both.
Don’t look back into the dark alleys
Of myth or even of history.
It is blood and gore.
It has been a bitter struggle.
Even today, we have survived several assaults
And, if we are alive, it is a luxury.
